Convention & Visitors Bureau Selects New President and Chief Executive

Leaders of the Greater Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau together with the Toledo-Lucas County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the selection of David Nolan as the new President and Chief Executive of the Greater Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Nolan has worked in the tourism industry for over thirty years in many aspects of the field including hotel management and marketing, Convention & Visitors Bureau management and corporate meeting planning. He comes to Toledo with experience in several major markets across the country, including two large Midwestern cities.

“I’m very excited to join the effort to make Toledo increasingly visible and attractive as both a spot for tourists and for those looking for an affordable and active community for conferences and meetings,” said Nolan. “This community is poised to present attractive options for families, young people and professionals. I look forward to showing them all of the great reasons to choose Toledo .”

Nolan graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management and Marketing and spent 12 years with Marriott Hotels and Resorts working in sales, marketing and training.

He next served as President & Chief Executive of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Milwaukee and the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland before transitioning back to the private sector to work as Regional Director with Experient Inc., a corporate meeting planning and event management company. He was based in Twinsberg, Ohio .

“David has vast experience in the industry, including Midwest markets. He understands our challenges as well as recognizes our opportunities,” said Greater Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau Chairman Rich Nachazel. “I’m pleased to say that from a field of many candidates, Dave was our first choice, and we are confident he will make a real difference.”

Mr. Nolan was actively involved in the Greater Cleveland community including the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, Urban League and Community Partnership for Arts and Culture. He looks forward to actively participating in the Greater Toledo community as he and his wife make the move to the area. Nolan started with the GTCVB on January 5, 2009.
