  Start out the afternoon right with lunch at LaRoe’s Restaurant ,  a restored restaurant & tavern nestled in the old canal town featuring a full buffet. 2:00 p.m. Canal Experience , Grand Rapids
  Learn what canal life was like aboard The Volunteer, a 60-foot boat replica of the time period. A two mule team pulls the boat while the crew handles the ropes and open and close the massive gates of the restored lock.

4:00 p.m. Wolcott House Museum Complex ,  Maumee
  Get a feel for the lifestyle of our ancestors at the while visiting six historic buildings. The elegant Wolcott House, a unique example of Federal-style architecture built in the mid-1830’s; a log home from the banks of the Miami and Erie Canal; an 1840 saltbox-style farmhouse; a railroad depot from the 1800’s, with a caboose and boxcar; the Monclova Country Church; and an 1840 Greek Revival style home which houses the Wolcott House Museum Store with its beautiful antiques and collectibles.

  Built by William Henry Harrison in 1813, it is the largest reconstructed, wooden walled fortification in America and withstood two major attacks by the British. The Visitor Center houses a 3,000 square foot hands-on museum, Ohio History Museum Store, and educational classrooms.
